These courses are intended both to fulfill curricular language requirements and to support participation in study-abroad programs.

The CLA offers classroom courses in the following languages:
- French (A1 to B2.1)
- English (A2 to B2.2)
- Italian as a Second Language (L2) (A1 to C1)
- Spanish (A1 to B2.1)
- German (A1)
Courses are not guaranteed for less than 8 participants
All language courses at all levels last 10 weeks and are delivered in two formats:
- Classroom Courses with a Teacher or Language Expert
2 hours per week in person at the CLA plus 1 hour online and over 40 hours of work on the platform.
Attendance is mandatory (maximum 6 hours of absence permitted).
Passing a B1 course grants a partial exemption from the assessment test for students who are required to achieve the B1 level to graduate;
Passing a B2 course grants a partial exemption from the assessment test for students who are required to achieve the B2 level to graduate.
- Assisted self‑learning courses
they include a weekly 1‑hour online meeting with a trainer or language expert plus 60 hours of work on the online platform. Attendance is not mandatory and does not grant any exemption from the assessment test.
For English, higher‑level courses aim at developing specific skills such as academic writing or oral presentation of talks/papers in English (Academic/Scientific English courses). These courses are reserved for students who have already obtained B2.1 level. They are also highly recommended for PhD School or Advanced Professional Courses.
