PhDs and Advanced Professional Courses

To attend courses for credit recognition or language level validation, students enrolled in Advanced Professional Courses (Levels I and II) or PhD programs must take the Assessment Test for Link identifier #identifier__186433-1PhD and Advanced Professional Course Students.

Based on the test results, students may be assigned a language level and awarded credits where applicable. If the required level for a given degree program (CdS) is not met (please refer to the Teaching Regulations on each course’s webpage), students will be assigned either a Link identifier #identifier__99745-2classroom course or a Link identifier #identifier__24319-3self-study online course (CLACSON).
Upon completion, a final test will be administered on the material studied.

Starting from the 2024–2025 academic year, courses for doctoral students at Roma Tre University (including co-tutored programs) are part of the CLA’s free course offerings. For students enrolled in Advanced Professional Courses (Levels I and II), the course fee is €100 per person. These courses include 30 hours of classroom instruction and 40 hours of online activities.

In addition to the evaluation tests for credit or level recognition, the CLA also organizes proficiency testsLink identifier #identifier__167773-4 (no credit assigned) (italian version) for students participating in mobility programs such as ERASMUS+ or other international exchanges. Three exam sessions are held each year.

PhD and Advanced Professional Course students follow the same academic calendar as Master’s degree students (and may attend some of the same classes), though test dates and course registration periods differ. These students may continue studying the language they began during their Bachelor’s degree without needing to take a preliminary evaluation test.

The Academic and Scientific English courses are particularly valuable, offering support with writing academic documents and preparing oral presentations of research and study results.
